COB 300 Application Process (March 1 deadline)

Good morning!  Several of you have asked for clarification re:  the process for applying
for COB 300.

Here’s how it works:
  • Make an appointment with your academic advisor to review your progress in the 10 B.B.A. core classes
  • During that appointment, your advisor will guide you in filling out the COB 300 application.
  • When fall registration begins in April, you will be enrolled in a preliminary section of COB 300.
  • After grades are recorded in May, we will check your spring grades to ensure you obtained the necessary 2.7 GPA and have completed the 10 core classes (if not ask your advisor about Plan B)
  • You will receive the 5-digit class # for the COB 300 sections for your permanent COB 300 section.   Note:  You will receive 4 different class numbers; one for each section.
  • Via MyMadison, YOU will need to change your preliminary COB 300 to enroll in the permanent sections.
Still have questions?  Come see your advisor in Zane Showker 205!

1st Week Attendance Policy!

At the instructor's discretion, any student registered for a class in the College of Business who does not attend both of the first two (2) scheduled meetings of the class MAY be administratively dropped from the class.  Students are notified by email IF they are dropped.  Students should not assume that they will be dropped from a COB course if they do not attend the first week.  Students are advised to check the accuracy of their schedules.  If a student is not administratively withdrawn but wishes to drop the course, the student must do so following the Office of the Registrar’s deadlines.

Campus Changes - New buildings!

With the acquisition of the former Rockingham Memorial Hospital complex and upcoming renovation and expansion to Duke Hall, there are many changes occurring on campus. Some of you may have spring classes that were listed in MyMadison to take place in the East Tower, now Montpelier Hall.

Montpelier Hall

With all these changes, the University Health Center (UHC) will new hours so if you have a "hold" on your account then keep that in mind and allow time to contact them.  All UHC services, including Student Wellness & Outreach and Substance Abuse Prevention, will be available on January 9, 2012.

Second floor: Office of Institutional Research and fine arts classrooms
Third floor: University Communications and Marketing, faculty and staff offices from

Career Course - IS-202 Available

If you're still really undecided about your major, consider taking IS 202, Career & Life Planning in the Spring semester. This is a great class for those of you who are really up in the air about majors and will help you narrow down your list of majors you're considering- as well as help you feel confident in the decision that you ultimately make.

The class can also be helpful if you have an idea of which major you would like to pursue but aren't sure about the career options available to you with that major.

Our colleagues in Career & Academic Planning teach numerous sections - it may be really beneficial for you to take the course.

Here are some quotes from students who took the class:
  • It helped me actually make a decision about my future.
  • I liked being led to resources that I never knew about before.
  • The class helped me find and be 100% confident in my choice of major and career.
  • It made me realize my strengths and really about the person who I am.
  • I really liked how helpful all the activities we did were and it helped me learn more about myself.
  • IS 202 helped me get "unstuck". The activities were very hands on and beneficial.

...a light dusting of snow has welcomed the ASC staff back on campus this morning!
